How to Save 50% of Your Income for Retirement
How to Save 50% of Your Income for Retirement You may think you have years and years to go before you have to start thinking about retirement. Think again. Though the idea isnââ¬â¢t looming on your horizon just yet, itââ¬â¢s actually the best time to start planning. Give yourself a huge edge to being wealthy in your old age. Compare what youââ¬â¢d have after 40 years of savings as opposed to 20- more than double, giving interest rates. Youââ¬â¢ll be able to retire sooner, and better. You donââ¬â¢t even have to make a lot to save. Thereââ¬â¢s plenty you can do making less than $40k per year. So stop procrastinating. Donââ¬â¢t pass up on any opportunities that come your way. Keep your eyes open for them and take them whenever you can- your future self will thank you.1. Save NowIt doesnââ¬â¢t matter whether youââ¬â¢ve never saved, are bad at saving, or have no idea how to do it. Now is the time. Donââ¬â¢t let your expenses become an excuse. These are your prime years; even putting away a little now can pay off a lot later.2. Get HelpCompanies advertise 401k plans in their employment benefits packages for a reason. This is part of your compensation- take advantage of it. Sign up and start using it. And bonus points if your employer has a matching program. Let them double your money for you!3. Go RothNo company sponsored retirement plan? Sign up for the next best option, a Roth IRA. You fund this with money from your paycheck after tax, but when you withdraw the funds later, unlike a 401k, you wonââ¬â¢t be taxed. Put as much as you can into that fund. Yes, even now. Do you really need that pair of designer jeans? You can also try the MyRA, from the U.S. Treasury, which promises that the savings bond will never decline in value. Bonus: there are no low-balance fees.4. InvestIf investing is an option for you, do so. And do so shrewdly. Try to put a bit in stocks, not just safe bonds with a safe (and flat) return rate. Look for funds that are targeted for your age bracket to help g uide you. And find a manager you trust!5. Get SmartAn overwhelming number of people donââ¬â¢t have any actual financial literacy. Donââ¬â¢t be one of them. Take control of your future funds by making sure you understand how markets and investments and money work. If your company offers access to a financial advisor? Sit down with them ASAP.6. Stay Out of DebtStudent loans and mortgages are a necessary evil. But try to keep debt from piling up on your credit cards. Youââ¬â¢ll pay more than double the original amount for your purchases if you let the interest charges get the better of you.7. Have a StashMake yourself a safety net so you never have to dip into the red. That way, if your car dies, youââ¬â¢re not saddled with a huge credit card bill that has the possibility of becoming a spiraling balance down the road.8. Get Those Tax BreaksFind out whether your tax bracket offers any breaks for contributing to a 401k or IRA. Thereââ¬â¢s also something called the ââ¬Å"s averââ¬â¢s creditâ⬠for individuals beneath a certain income threshold. See if you qualify.

Financial Checkup Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Financial Checkup - Assignment Example The figures clearly indicate that I am credit worth as my assets are capable of covering my credit. In addition, it shows that I understand how to manage my debts as I keep the levels of debts below what I really own (Assets). The figures can be helpful when seeking short term credit to handle my short term needs (Eisenberg 69). According to my income and expense statements, the total expense is $2750 while my income is $900.The total loss is $1840.From this figures, my total expense exceed the total income resulting in a loss. This may be attributed to the fact that being a student, there is little time to engage in income generating activities but there is extensive spending due to a number of requirements in the learning institution and my personal needs. However, my income of 900 dollars show that I am capable of managing my time and engage in part time income generating activities , which clearly indicate that I can utilize time as a major resource in making substantive income(Eisenberg 62). My liquidity ratio is 2.92,which is below the recommended ratio of 3.The ratio shows that my liquid assets cannot meet my current expenses by a difference of 0.8.This can be attributed to the fact that as a student, I am bound to spent more than what I hold as liquid assets. However, the figure is comparatively positive compared to other students as it shows that I can meet most of my current expenses using my own cash and cash equivalents. Further, the figure is not alarming as I can still manage to get external source of cash such as pocket money from parents to cover the current expenses that I may be unable to meet on my own (Eisenberg 33).The debt asset ratio is 0.72.This figure is below 1, which clearly indicates that my assets exceed my debts and so I can pay my debts. Further, the figure shows that I am credit worth when borrowing or applying for a loan. My monthly average amount for revolving savings is$417.This average budgeted amount for every moth show

Microeconomics Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Microeconomics - Research Paper Example The firm's decision to produce is driven by the profitability of the product at given market price. As long as the price is more than the marginal cost of production, the firm will produce and sell butter. But at point where the marginal cost is equal to marginal revenue, the firm will be indifferent and below that, it will stop producing and selling butter as the costs exceed the revenue earned. This is also referred to as profit maximization behavior of firms. With the establishment of new butter making firms, the supply of butter in the market will increase. Given the demand is not changing, the supply will cause over-supply of butter and thus the price will move to equilibrium level, that is at the intersection of supply and demand curves. This will cause the price of butter to fall until it reaches the equilibrium level. The overall output levels of production if butter will increase as the supply has increased. For typical firms, the price decrease will cause reduction in their profitability and thus those operating at just marginal margins. As the new firms have entered the butter making industry, the out put will increase with the increase in the overall output of butter in the market, the firms increase their output levels. Firms which were just breaking even or making less profits may quit as the prices have gone down and their operations may have gone in loss region. C - Using 2 or more diagrams, explain what will happen... Firms which were just breaking even or making less profits may quit as the prices have gone down and their operations may have gone in loss region. C - Using 2 or more diagrams, explain what will happen to the market price and output, AND to the price of a typical firm, if the annual insurance premiums that butter-making firms pay on their buildings increase. If the annual insurance premium increases for the butter making firms, the total costs will increase because of increase in fixed costs. The increase in costs will cause the firms to reduce their supply until the Marginal revenue is more than the marginal costs. The reduction in supply will cause the price to move up until it reaches equilibrium level. The increase in cost will shift the ATC curve for the firms and thus reduce their margins on current price. To be profitable, they must increase the price levels if the firms are going to loss region due to increased costs. D - Using 2 or more diagrams, explain what will happen to the market price and output, AND to the price of a typical firm, if the price of milk (which is used to make butter) falls. If the price of milk falls, the cost of production of butter will go down as milk is the major raw material and ingredient of butter. Due to reduction of price of a major raw material, the costs will go down and thus new entrants will start entering the butter production segment. This will cause increase in supply of butter and thus the prices of butter will go down in the short run as well as in the long run. If the demand is held constant at original levels, the prices will go down until equilibrium price level is

The Extinction Event and Life in the Post-Apocalyptic Greenhouse :: Exploratory Essays Research Papers
The Extinction Event and Life in the Post-Apocalyptic Greenhouse The biggest mass extinction of the past 600 million years (My), the end-Permian event (251 My ago), witnessed the loss of as much as 95% of all species on Earth. Key questions for biologists concern what combination of environmental changes could possibly have had such a devastating effect, the scale and pattern of species loss, and the nature of the recovery. New studies on dating the event, contemporary volcanic activity, and the anatomy of the environmental crisis have changed our perspectives dramatically in the past five years. Evidence on causation is equivocal, with support for either an asteroid impact or mass volcanism, but the latter seems most probable. The rest of this article spends time speculating through the advances in technology and the reanalyzation of old evidence to determine various cataclysmic events that happened millions of years ago. There are many sections in this article that discuss the methods used to determine the closet possible dates and the sequence in which they follow. There are also sections in this article which discuss methods used for the evidence of impact, eruption and how reading the environmental changes can help paleontologists determine conclusions and narrow the perspectives of paleontologists (scientists) and popular culture as a whole. However, there are still many factors in the evidence collecting process that make it difficult to determine the actual events, let alone the sequence of them. For instance, at the end of the Permian, giant volcanic eruptions occurred in Siberia, spewing out some 2 million km3 of basalt lava, and covering 1.6 million km2 of eastern Russia to a depth of 400-3000mteres, equivalent to the area of the European Community. Consequently, with increasingly precise dating, the Siberian ââ¬Å"Trapâ⬠(areas which are composed of basalt, a dark-colored igneous rock which is generally not erupted explosively from classic conical volcanoes, but usually emerges more slowly from the long fissures in the ground) have switched from having only a minor role in the Permian crisis to being the most probable cause of the whole catastrophe. Some scientists have even suggested recently that the massive flood basalts were actually themselves caused by a giant extraterrestrial impact, which tore deep into the continental crust of that part of present-day Siberia. So this is yet another example the evolutionary and

Novel: 19 Minutes Essay
As kids grow up, they go through several stages to find out who they truly are. Some kids are very social and have many friends, when others are shy and not considered the coolest kids around. Jodi Picoult demonstrates isolation impeccably in her novel Nineteen Minutes by delving beneath the surface of a small town to explore what it means to be different in todayââ¬â¢s society. She shows how one can lose a friend, how people make someone feel bad; in order to feel good about themselves, and how isolation can lead to death related situations. Teenagers and kids in general, as they grow up they tend to change their friends multiple times. In the novel, Peter Houghton and Josie Cormier are very close friends since their childhood. Josie, unlike Peter, stands up for herself and even Peter sometimes, since he is mostly picked on. One day, when Josie and Peter are young, he decides to show her his fatherââ¬â¢s shotgun, which he uses to hunt with. Alex, Josieââ¬â¢s mothers, catche s them, and was furious saying ââ¬Å"My daughter has been coming over to your house for how long, and youââ¬â¢ve got guns lying aroundâ⬠(Picoult 81)? The mothers from this day on stop being friends, which leads the kids to stop going to each otherââ¬â¢s houses, although they still manage to play at school. Josie did not want to isolate Peter, because they are really good friends. Another thing that occurs in the novel, is that when a new girl joined Peter and Josieââ¬â¢s class, she is not very noticed. One day Peter ââ¬Å"notice[s] that [she is] sitting in the middle of an ink stainâ⬠(Picoult 158). After Peter realizes that this is not an ink stain and the girl has actually got her period, he screams out: ââ¬Å"Dolores has her periodâ⬠(Picoult 158)! And then the whole class joins and starts laughing, including Josie. Peter, for a while, enjoys not being the one made fun of for once, but once they kids start teasing her, Peter decides to put a ââ¬Å"sto pâ⬠(Picoult 159) to it. After this incident, Josie along with the popular kids continueâ⬠¦

The Principles of Scientific Thinking Essay - 602 Words
In psychology, the six principles of scientific thinking are extraordinary claim, falsifiability, Occam razor, replicability, ruling hypotheses of rival, and correlation vs. causation. We know that gaining new knowledge always help the growth of our mind, but sometimes a claim may contradict what we have already known, then we need more persuasive evidences to prove this claim before we accept it. It is natural that people doubt something extraordinary and a very basic thinking skill that is known as extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Specifically, it can be presented as I did not come to class today and I tell my instructor that I ate bad seafood last night and had diarrhea, then she might believe me. If I tellâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Moreover, the studies should be replicability, it means that repeating the results in other studies ought to be the exact same, which makes it easier to discover errors and ensure that the result is reliable. For example, Medica l News Today reported that ââ¬Å"a patient who also has acute myeloid leukemia has been cured of HIV infection after a stem-cell transplant combined with high-dose chemotherapy and radiation therapyâ⬠, German scientists put forward some people carry a mutant gene seems to allow them to have the innate ability to resist HIV, the genes inherited from the parents called ââ¬Å"Delta 32â⬠. Although there have been rare cured HIV cases, but such experiment is highly risky and currently no effective vaccine to prevent and completely cure AIDS and HIV. (ââ¬Å"Evidenceâ⬠) Thus here the cured patientââ¬â¢s case is not possibly being redo, which is not replicability. By ruling hypotheses of rival, it means when we are evaluating a claim, we need to make sure that whether other plausible explanations have been excluded. Examples for ruling out rival hypotheses could be that if black people have better performance in athletics, there should be more research to make sure the results are not due to better diet and training or other possible factors. Lindsay Lohan Essay - 1787 Words
Lindsay Lohan was born on July 2, 1986. She is the oldest of 4 kids and her parents are divorced. Her dad was not very much a part of her life growing up and to this day she does not have anything to do with him. Lohan was a rising child star who started her acting career at the age of three. She starred in many commercials before showcasing her fabulous acting ability when she appeared in the remake of Parent Trap in 1998. She took a little time off after this showcase to be a ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠child. After dropping out of high school, she had a few bigger screen acting jobs and some extra shots in daytime television (Current Biography, 2005). Finding more information about her past would be a first approach in trying to figure out the root of her addictions and behaviors. Lindsay Lohanââ¬â¢s behaviors are in a ray of dysfunction, on t he verge of danger. She has reached a point in her life where her actions could lead to possible suicide. She is psychologically abnormal in her everyday life. (Pappas, 2010, P6) From the psychodynamic perspective, Lindsay Lohan has had this need of filling a human void. She had a strong dependency of people. It is unsure if this is because of the absence of her father, but it could very likely be a key factor. There were no reports that Lohanââ¬â¢s mother denied her of her needs emotionally growing up, but Lohan stated ââ¬Å"He didnt do anything for my career, except go out and not come home at night and make my mom and me stay up and wonder where he was and then show up three days later. So I dont think he deserves anything. He doesnt even deserve my respect. (Current Biography, 2005 P12). Object relation theorists say that have a strong need to have relationships with people and when they are young and have severe problems, this can lead to abnormal development (Comer, 2011 p g. 40 top). Appreciation from Son to Mother in Tupac Shakurs Song,...
Throughout the emotional lyrics of Tupac Shakurââ¬â¢s song ââ¬Å"Dear Mamaâ⬠, he constantly reveals trial and tribulation. Shakur sympathetically expresses the obstacles he endures due to the undying support of his mother who displays sacrificial love. He explains the abnormal circumstances in which his family undergoes such as poverty, single parenting, and even feelings of hopelessness. Shakur characterizes his mother as a heroic figure, who outshines the negative aspects of his life by providing the essentials only a mother could both physically and morally instill in her child. The artist brilliantly captivates his audience by revealing personal information from his childhood in which many can relate to. From beginning to end, Shakur lyrically unfolds sincere gratitude toward his mother. The artist repetitively quotes this line throughout the song to effectively remind his listeners of his gratefulness to have a valuable mother. In the first verse of the song, Shakur informs the audience of a pessimistic aspect of his life, where he is ââ¬Å"thrown outâ⬠of the house. Yet, he still yearns to see his mother and shows a nostalgic attitude toward the situation. Despite the fact that his mother is a crack addict Shakur portrays her as a ââ¬Å"black queenâ⬠, displaying great esteem for what she means to him as her son. Sung by an anonymous voice, the chorus itself relatively personifies the appreciation he has towards his mother. Marx and arnold â⬠individual in the class Free Essays
Karl Marx was one of the most influential ideologues of all times. His ideas fired men to revolutions and empowered them as a class denoted by the proletariat to wage struggle against domination by the bourgeois. (Marx. We will write a custom essay sample on Marx and arnold ââ¬â individual in the class or any similar topic only for you Order Now Engels. Et Al.:1998). His ideology of individual empowerment contributing to class control over society holds sway amongst a large swathe of humanity even to this day. While Marx was a powerful believer in individual power, it was through its regulation that change in society was brought about. This change was not the way a person pleased or sought it to be but on the basis of history and as per existing circumstances. (Marx. Engels: 1986). à In the struggle of the classes, Marx believed that it was individual influence as denoted in labor power which had been undermined over the years by the bourgeoisie. The control granted to individuals through their work denoted labor power which comprised of the prime energy which created a vital force in nations. (Marx: 1999). Marx values labor power as it is the only means which can produce more value than its worth, thus this is the productive value of individuals.à (Marx: 2003).à Class struggle as per Marx begins with individual power generated by personal toil which is coagulated to destroy those elements which work against their interests. Thus Marx believed that the exploitative nature of individual power particularly amongst the bourgeoisie will be brought to an end through collective authority of individuals of the proletariat. (Karl Marx: 2006). Marx states that each man in a capitalist system works in his own interest and thus ultimately results in the destruction of the organism as a whole. (Aron: 1965). The ideal structure for harnessing individual power is thus felt to be the communist system wherein the power of each individual can be channelised for the collective good. An individualââ¬â¢s role is related to his role in class and economic relations and thus his power is also channelised in that direction. (Marx: 1999). The view of individual power held by Marx is thus of production, material creation and contribution to the class struggle. The individual soul loses its power in the collectivity of the class to which he belongs. Arnold was a poet in the Victorian era who is said to have guidance and rationality in an age which was increasingly industrialized and when individuals were losing their moorings to increased vocationalisation of human activity. By adopting the analogies of the Barbarians, Philistines and Populace wherein individuality was subordinated, Arnold attempted to bring back a sense of power to the individual. (Arnold EB: 2006). Arnoldââ¬â¢s philosophy of individualism was based on the ability of the individual to change society by following a contrarian approach rather than just blindly following reality. Arnold abhorred the average man who he believed failed to contribute to quality in society. It is the individual who is not average, the, ââ¬Å"remnantâ⬠as he called it who contributes most to the social order and democracy. A remnant is required to be humble and should look upwards to some standard. Once a majority of the people assume such a quality, as per Arnold, the whole society will rise above the normal. For raising such a social order, education was a key parameter. Education has to be humanist and religious and not merely utilitarian or sentimental. The scientific temper of education has been reducing the humane standards that people have. à There was a greater need for reinventing education to enable a holistic approach. (The Dialogue: 2006). Arnold calls for finding the best amongst oneself and then follow it. This self needs to be one which is the best and not what is upper most in the mind. An individual should not go against this, ââ¬Å"best lightâ⬠and ensure that this light is not darkness. (Arnold : 2000). Pursuit of culture which generates beauty and intelligence or what Arnold has called sweetness and light in individual is its main purpose. (Arnold : 2000)à Action by individuals should be guided by such sweetness and light. There should be no fear that such men cannot bear the trials of a tough life, by avoiding rough action. By relying on less random action people can confront such acts. Arnold believed that the central theme of British society was assertion of personal liberty. However he was clearly against individualism resulting in anarchy. (Arnold : 2000) Arnolds identified religion as per Christ as a force which was based on individual proclivities acting on himself rather than injunctions from outside. Thus the individual can gain control over himself and thus contribute to society. (Style : 2006). Arnold spawned the movement of humanism in the United Staes which provided the guiding light of morality from past civilisations for individuals to survive in a world which was turning towards greater individualism and materialism. (New Humanism : 2006). The strength of Arnoldââ¬â¢s style lay lies in his use of the satirical and analytic to denote his theories which made them more explicit. (Genre : 2006). The individual power denoted by Marx is one which has been harnessed for creation, production and destruction. (Marx. Engels: 1986). It is power in the individual for action resulting from his labor, as against intrinsic power developed through intermix with education and culture. Marx wants to harness individual power to change society, to bring class struggle; Arnold wants individual power to raise the resistance of humans to survive in an increasingly materialistic and industrialized World. (Marx. Engels: 1986). The strength or power in an individual as per Arnold came from within, while Marx believed that individual power came from the society and the environment surrounding him. The power of individuals as per Marx rests in his ability to produce value through labor, it is to be harnessed collectively, on the other hand, Arnold believes in power of the individual which is derived from his culture and sensitivities and which guides him to do the right things for the overall good of society. (Arnold : 2000). Thus there was a major differentiation between the identification and use of power between Marx and Arnold. Reference 1.à à à à à à The Dialogue. 2006. Gender Stereotypes In Advertising Essay Example For Students
Gender Stereotypes In Advertising Essay Gender Stereotypes In AdvertisingHave you ever thought about the way that you feel after you see a really funny commercial, or a commercial that shocks you to the point where you know your going to think about it for the rest of the day? By simply stating the name of a specific company, is it possible for you to tell me their slogan___ is the place for the hardware man.? Slogans like this are there to keep your attention, whether it be sexually, athletically, or by shock-value. These sexually-charged slogans are not by accident (such as the ?hardware man?). They are put there for the very reason so you will think about them for the rest of the day. The perfect slogan or advertisement can go on for generations, and can sometimes carry a corporation. One of these firms that you might say has been carried by their history of ad campaigns is Absolut Vodka. They can be all over the place, in magazines or even on TV, the way that these Absolut ads can turn anything from a womans body to a brick wall into the shape of their bottle. Shaped the same way as a common liquor or wine bottle, yet still everyone knows that this ad is Absolut-ly Absolut. The perfect example of a mental monopoly is by seeing a solid black magazine ad with a bottle cut out of it; the first thought to cross the consumers mind is that of the Absolut bottle. The surprise comes when the page is turned and the reader is bombarded with images of scantly clad men and women. Now the double take occurs when not only the traditional Absolut advertising ploy is present but also, this campaign is based around a sexual stereotype. Even established businesses will use gender roles to further product recognition. Because Absolut Vodka uses several ploys that highlight gender stereotypes in an effort to sell their product, consumers need to be aware that drinking this alcohol will not guarantee happiness or satisfaction with members of the opposite sex. Individual advertisement examples are clearly shown in the first advertisement of a man seemingly climbing a sheet of ice with the silhouette of the Absolut bottle protruding from the side of the mountain. Although many women love the hardcore aspects of ?conquering? the outdoors, it is generally thought of as a mans passion to get outside and explore. While this is not the traditional Absolut ad with the mountain actually resembling the bottle of liquor it does do an excellent job of getting its point across with subtle gender bias. Until actually examining an advertisement, it is hard to notice the gender roles that shine through so strongly. In this very ad, at a glance it looks as if they are simply stating that their vodka is strong and on the edge, while in reality this is the Swiss companys way of appealing to the male gender. Suddenly a few pages later the dangerous, and on the edge drink, has been transformed into a lighthearted woman. It is the same as realizing that the wo man in the beer commercial is staring at you almost as if to be saying that by purchasing this drink the consumers appeal to this woman has skyrocketed. It is an ingenious way of marketing to different types of people, whether they be male, female, hetero- or homosexual, it is a simple fact that by going through sexual desire companies will sell more of their product.. Using the same stereotype this next ad implies that a woman would rather drink a vodka that is seen to be traditionally stylish and smooth rather then the hard, rough going- down drink that we saw in the preceding advertisement. This Absolut ad takes the scenic route employing a feathered scarf draped over the now elegant looking bottle. The spotlight is focused upon the bottle giving the idea that this is the drink that the important and beautiful people drink. In this scenario it is supposed to remind us of the days when glamorous movie stars walked the runway for their picture premiere; it is an old-school attitude that they try to turn into a successful advertisement. Although the same idea, these two advertisements seem to speak of two totally different beverages. In one case theres liquor that men would need to drink when theyre with the boys, telling war stories, the other is of the flappers in the 1920s sipping cocktails while socializing at a dance club. A great associate in advertising can take different social scenarios and turn them into the same drink. A true advertising genius can take a drink such as this, create hundreds of them for each specific sexual group, especially the two gender roles and institute them throughout the world, while all the while using fun, and sexuality as his basis. It must be understood however, that it does not matter what car you drive or what you drink when your thirsty, you will not be able to attract anyone that you could not previously, people need to focus more attention on their social skills then on their wallets, and I promise you, you will be able to win the girl/guy of your dreams. It matters none at all if you are drinking Absolut vodka at a party you will still be thought of as the same person. With the third ad, Absolut decided to switch away from the stereotypes and head directly into full throttle sexual desire. In this ad, entitled ?Absolut Peep-Show? it shows a bottle of Absolut Vodka with a half-naked woman sitting directly behind it. Where the bottle and the woman intersect, the body is magnified behind the glass. With this ad Absolut switches from the actual stereotypes and goes directly into blatant sexual desires. When a man crosses this ad the initial feeling is that when this drink is around, a woman like that can pop up anywhere. After analyzing this advertisement it is easy to recognize what the female body equates to in this world most times. There are instances such as this one where this woman is nothing but a body to be fantasized at with male eyes. Ad executives understand that this body will sell although it has nothing to do with liquor, just a beautiful female figure, this will sell liquor. This advertisement is also a shining example of the power men believe they have over women when an article like this is seen. It is easy to see people as objects when they are flaunting just to be seen this is why advertisers use this to propel sales. Although advertisers know people are not gullible, it is always beneficial to have an association to go with the product as in this ad, it will be easier when walking down the aisle to pick up the bottle of Absolut for the fact that they will remember the woman in the advertisement. As with anything pictures stream imagination which streams fantasy, this is the central point of what this ad is trying to get across. Absolut has a monopoly on creativity in the use of ploys in their ads but the messages they send are resoundingly the same. The advertising ploy that is used most often throughout the world, and especially in Absolut is that of sexuality. Human sexuality can take a boring ad and make it anywhere from interesting, to shocking, to appealing in one critical move. Think of a normal teenage male watching a soft-drink advertisement, is he more likely to remember an ad where another random person has the is drinking the same drink? Or will he remember the ad in which a beautiful woman in a low cut bathi ng suit walks in front of the camera and oh yeah, she has the bottle in her hand? These are all things that go through the minds of marketing executives who plan what we will watch in between our favorite television shows, or what we will read at the doctors office. Throughout these three gender ploys it is plain to see that advertisers will not stop in the fight over your business. Commercials today take any subject whatsoever and turn out any commercial to sell it in the best way possible, whether that be through the use of gimmicks, athletic heroes, or sexuality. .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 , .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .postImageUrl , .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 , .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384:hover , .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384:visited , .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384:active { border:0!important; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384:active , .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384 .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4981e4d72786111c5ba12622a3824384:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: AIDS/HIV EssaySocial Issues Essays

10 Evaluation Essay Topics on Medical Ethics
10 Evaluation Essay Topics on Medical Ethics Medical ethics is an important issue that arises more often and more controversial with progression of human history. If you are writing a medical ethics evaluation essay, consider the ten facts below: Palliative care in a medical facility can result in critical ethical matters the physician must consider. A patient is legally allowed to refuse treatments which will sustain their life, even if that refusal leads to their death. Here, the patient has to be able to understand all of the options at hand, as well as the risks and benefits to all options. The patient must also be able to rationalize and name the treatment they have selected. There are three elements to educated refusal as well as consent to treatment where practitioners can sustain life and that is if the freedom of the patient is coerced, if the patient does not have the ability to make an informed decision, or if the conveying of the information to the patient is not possible. Each nurse is held to different ethical standards in their practice. ADN nurses are tasked with communicating and collaborating with patients as well as their families. They must also work with the medical team to plan, deliver, and coordinate the patient-centered care for all of the assigned patients. RNââ¬â¢s with an ADN must participate as an advocate for the activities that would improve the lives of their patients and help to identify the needs of patients and refer them to the resources that might offer better care after they leave the hospital. It is part of the job of the RNââ¬â¢s with an ADN to ensure complete confidentiality for the patients. They are required in this instance to communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team assigned to this manââ¬â¢s care in a collective effort to ensure optimal health. The RNââ¬â¢s with an ADN would have to use any supporting technology needed to communicate the patientââ¬â¢s situation and what care i s necessary while also assigning the appropriate nursing care and supervising the nurse responsible. Different medical practitioners rely upon different theories of practice in order to make sure they are acting in an ethical fashion at all times. The ââ¬Å"need theoryâ⬠emphasizes the importance of increasing the independence of patients in order to promote continued healing after their hospitalization. It was this ââ¬Å"need theoryâ⬠which was the first distinction made between medicine and nursing. The unique function of nurses was to assist a patient in whatever activities contributed to health or recovery. Nurses give patients, in this context, the strength, the knowledge, or the will to perform such basic tasks unaided. This idea really emphasizes getting into the mind of the patient to help them better heal physically. The Henderson nursing theory stated that the patient required assistance in order to achieve health, regain their independence, or have a peaceful death. The patient and their families needed to be viewed as a single unit, and it was important for nurses to know that the body and mind were inseparable and they needed to be treated as such. She emphasized how the quality of mental health would allow an individual to heal more rapidly (Henderson, 1966). She went on to state that patients wanted to learn, discover, and satisfy their natural curiosity so that they can better develop their health, something that is emphasized in the BSN program. As a nurse, applying Hendersonââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"need theoryâ⬠requires first assessing the basic needs of the individual. Then a nurse must identify the ability of the individual to meet their needs with or without help, taking into account their knowledge, their will, or their strength. They must then document how best to assist the individual. Implementing of treatment prescribed by a physician should be done by taking into account what activities need to be achieved in order to recover from an illness, maintain health, or aid in a peaceful death. The implementation as a nurse should be based on emotional balance, age, cultural background, physical capacities, or emotional capacities. An evaluation should be done to determine the speed with which a patient can perform tasks or the degree to which a patient can perform tasks in an independent fashion, such that they can eventually meet their goals for recovery or a peaceful death (Henderson, 1997). When working with different cultures, it is important for medical practitioners to communicate with parents, and to take certain beliefs into consideration of the parents in the cause and treatment of disease. In Hmong culture parents are open to discussing the name of the problem, as well as what they considered to be the cause. They believed they knew at what point the problem started, but their answer is not necessarily a medical one which Western doctors are trained to address. The parents obviously respect the roles of healers and those roles were highly sacred, which is why they assumed that the doctor would have the solution or the treatment for the problem, and in asking the questions the doctor was obviously open to improving his education of the Hmong medicinal ways so as to afford better treatment that would best bridge the two worlds. However, many Hmong believe that doctors should just know the answers themselves if one is a a good doctor he/she will know without having to speak with the parents. In western medicine there is an ethical dilemma with regard to cultural sensitivity such that there exists exploitation of the natural birthing periods for women, something which Western society today would view as backward because it is not legal. However, the high birth rates, and high birth rates in hospitals can be problematic for Western medical practitioners when working with Hmong people for example. It can be particularly shocking that contraceptives would not be used, especially among the converts, or that no matter the changes in their environment or where they were living, they would stick to their traditional roles of early marriage and multiple children. It is imperative for those whose responsibilities involve children, health or social care matters to fully understand the true meaning of ethical care and the right way to implement such concept in their daily roles and work responsibilities. To put it simply, ethical care is actually a responsibility that is governed by law that requires any individual to at all times upheld the standards of reasonable care when they are carrying out their duties that have the possibilities of hurting others. In this relation, such individual must be sure to check that the internal and external surroundings are safe before commencing any morning sessions. Implementing a cleaning roster is one way to make sure that the gathering conducted in a clean environment. Everyone is familiar with the phrase Do not judge a book by its cover. As a society, we pay lip service to the idea that it is wrong to judge people by the way they look. However, this idea becomes this idea is becoming increasingly important in the medical workplace. In private, a person may - rightly or wrongly - make all the judgments he wants and hold whatever opinions he chooses. In a work environment, however, that same person represents the adult social care organization for which he works. It is nowadays vital that a healthcare organization would be viewed as operating ethically. If a medical organization were to acquire a reputation as being unethical, it would have terrible effects on that adult social care organizationââ¬â¢s ability to do medical care. Customers, after all, tend to prefer to work companies they like and feel they can trust. A reputation for solid ethics, then, is vital to a medical organizationââ¬â¢s bottom line.
